May 28, 2009 - 5:00 PM

The meeting was called to order by Laurel at 5:00 PM with Barb Klingbeil, Jackie Hartman-Tollefson, Milton Kuenzi and Joe Roberts present. Also in attendance was Rob Roth of General Engineering.

Motion by Milton/Joe to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion Carried.

Rob presented the Agricultural, Natural and Cultural Resources Element of which the goal is to preserve the natural and cultural resources of the Village of Clyman so that they can be enjoyed without diminishment for future generations. Rob had drafted appropriate language for the plan.

Rob also advised that he has spoken with the DOT and was advised of potential problems that the DOT may encounter when Highway 26 is revamped. Milton explained about the natural waterway that used to be in that area. Rob indicated he will have more information on this at the next meeting. Reconstruction of Highway 26 is expected to be a 2013 project. There is going to be a 500 foot annex limitation of access to Highway 26. The Highway J work will end about 1000 feet from access with Highway 26. The DOT and the county acknowledge that Highway J needs to be re-done, however, right now there is no funding for this project. Discussion held on the Highway 26 reconstruction.

Housing Element: Rob presented statistics for possible future village expansion that he obtained from the Dodge County website. Discussion held on this. It is forecasted that the Village will grow by 68 people and 51 housing units over the next 20 years. The general demographic characteristics were discussed. Discussion was also held on multi-family and starter housing units and the need to make sure that adequate housing is allowed for as needed. Lot availability will need to be determined and this information will need to be provided to Rob. Rob will then bring further information on this.

Economic Development - The group was able to list the following businesses that are currently located in the Village: Seneca Foods, Baehmanns 4-Season Recreation, Mercers, The Hardware Store, Doug's Saw Shoppe, Union Pacific Railroad, Five-Star Designs, Dawn Pint Photography, Rick Schmitt Photography, Eric Neevel Cabinet Making and Dick Greinert's Repair Shop. The Committee felt that a convenience store, a restaurant/fast food type business, day care and beauty shop would be some businesses the village would like to attract. It was felt that more industries would also be good.

The next meeting will be June 18, at 6:30 PM. A public visioning session will be held on June 25, at 6:30. Notices of this will be sent out with the water bills.

Motion by Milton/Jackie to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:14 PM.

Respectfully submitted:

Kris Kohlhoff
